How billing works

One base fee, included usage, and a cap you control.

Every plan is the same shape. You pay a monthly base that includes the same amount of usage, then honest metered pricing for everything past it — bounded by a cap you set in the Shopify Admin.

Base fee
A flat monthly amount, billed on your Shopify invoice. Starter $19, Team $79, Scale $299.
Included usage
Each plan includes usage equal to its base fee. The metered line only activates after you've used what's bundled in.
Metered rate
Usage is token cost at 2× — the only markup. Shown in real time, never after the fact.
Monthly cap
A ceiling on metered charges above the included portion. Default caps are sensible; raise or lower yours in one click.
Free trial
7 days on any plan, native to Shopify subscriptions. Cancel by uninstalling.

Frequently asked.

How is usage calculated?
Lumen reports the underlying model cost of each turn, multiplied by a fixed 2× rate. That's the only markup. Each answer in the app shows the tools called, the tokens used, and the exact cost — so the number on your invoice always reconciles with what you ran.
What happens if I hit the cap?
New turns are paused and Lumen surfaces a cap-raise CTA. Raising the cap is one click in the Shopify Admin — no new invoice, no card re-entry. Nothing runs past your cap without explicit approval.
Can I change plans later?
Yes — upgrade or downgrade at any time from the embedded billing settings. A new subscription is created and the old one is cancelled; Shopify prorates the base automatically.
Do you offer annual pricing?
Not today. We bill monthly through Shopify's Billing API. Annual is on the roadmap once usage-based annual contracts are better supported by the platform.
Is there a free trial?
Every plan includes a 7-day free trial, native to Shopify subscriptions. Cancel by uninstalling the app from your Shopify Admin.
How is Lumen billed?
Through the Shopify Billing API, so Lumen charges appear as line items on your existing Shopify invoice. No separate vendor relationship, no new payment method, no extra reconciliation at month-end.
What if I'm not on Shopify yet?
Direct billing for non-Shopify teams is coming soon. In the meantime, reach out — we can start an engagement and switch you onto a standard plan when the direct path is live.
Can I see my usage in real time?
Yes. Billing settings show the current cycle's usage, the included portion, and how close you are to the cap. Every answer also carries the cost of that specific turn.
